skydome rotation in animation

just trying to find a way to change the value of the skydome's rotation from keyframe to keyframe, so as to simulate the sky moving in animation. tried to do this with a filament render, under the environments properties, but even though I see it in the timeline, the rotation value is global

so am I doing something wrong or is there a workaround?

only way I know is group everything including your camera and rotate your whole scene

try using a actually skydome prop you can rotate.  I like glasseyes skydomes for this purpose. https://www.sharecg.com/pf/full_uploads.php?pf_user_name=glaseye

he also has expansion paks for the skydome. though you will need to convert it to filament or iray they are made for 3delight

another trick that works is create a flat plane primitive and add a sky texture to it. then scale place it in front of your camera as needed for POV and drag it slowly as you do, it will appear the sky is moving.   justa  quick little cheat.

@WendyLuvsCatz - that might just work

@Ivy - wondering why DAZ doesn't do this natively (but I don't expect you to have the answer) and the plane hack wouldn't rotate the IBL lights, so it is only a hack

@Zilvergrafix - exactly like that. it seems like they can make the dome rotate and stop at will

thanks to all of you for taking the time to set me straight

the thing is 3D raytracers and renders actualy move everything thing around the camera!

You think the camera is moving but it really is the only thing that stays still!

    Game engines too.
