Not exactly a new member but I`ve been trying to get back into Daz so installed 4.6 and mapped my Poser runtime and my Daz content but can`t get them to show in the content window. It`s different to the older versions I used to use. Thanks for any help.

Which content window - Smart Content or Content Library? How are you installing the content, or was it already installed from before? Has this machine had DS 4.x installed before, or is it a new system?

I have similar problem, I have downloaded 4.6 and dim, but I am having a horrible time trying to download product and finding it afterwards I have been working on this for about two weeks. I have quite a bit of experiance, but I am feeling like a newby. Where do I put my download files from poster world so that dim finds them and installs them. Please help. Frustrated as all heck.

DIM only installs content bought at the DAZ 3D store, it does not install any other content.

If your content from other places comes as a ZIP file, then simply unzip it, and merge it into the content library you are using. If you used DIM to install DAZ 3D content, then it will be in C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library. There is a Runtime folder in there as well, so merge any Poser content into it.

What problems are you having finding installed content? There is a search box at the top of the Content Library pane where you can type in a search term, and the search can be set to 'File' or 'Database' depending on whether you know the name of the item or not.

There is also a Products category where all content is displayed in Alphabetical order by letter. If all else fails, you can find the item in the Installed tab in DIM, right click, and view 'Shoe Installed Files' which will give you the name of the library folder they were installed to and the file names and paths of each file that was installed.

Thanks for the help so far, guys. Now i`ve got my Poser runtime merged with the other stuff in public documents, I`ve run "find content" and it all shows up there but there is still no icons in Content pane or smart pane. how do I get it into Daz?

You need to go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager

In that window, you need to select, and expand, DAZ Studio Formats AND Poser Formats, and make sure that the path is listed in BOTH of them so that DS knows where the content is. DIM does not communicate with DAZ Studio, you have to enter the path to your content yourself.

Once that is done, the content will definitely appear in the Content Library, but the Smart Content view relies on the database to be running.
