Question about genesis vs genesis 2 characters and their features

edited December 1969 in New Users

Hello all,

Sorry for the newbie question but this is very confusing to me.

If I have a genesis character and a genesis 2 character, is there a way to use features from both in one model? For example, if you have Hiro 5 (genesis) and Lee (genesis 2) is there a way to combine the anime features from Hiro with Lee?

Could I use the big eyes, or asobi head, from Hiro 5 with Lee?

Or, if there is a genesis character that I want to use with a genesis 2 base or character, do I have to instead buy a genesis 2 variety of that product?

Hopefully I am explaining this correctly. Any help is appreciated.

Genesis and Genesis 2 have different meshes, so you cannot directly mix them. However, if you use Genesis Generation X2 you can convert the Genesis shape for use in the Genesis 2 mesh, and then you can mix them together in any way you want.

    Thanks for the answer Cayman!

I was afraid that was the case, based on apparent imcompatibilities between figures that I already have. Just wanted to make sure before planning purchases.

There is also this product, which provides the Hiro 5 shape (and the other main Genesis male shapes) for use with the Genesis 2 Male figure.

    Thanks Scott!

Truth be told I was just using Hiro 5 as an example. However, it looks like the Gen5 legacy male and female shape products would include everything I might need. I'll have to look through their details and compare, but it looks like this would be a good option.

Thanks again for the additional information.

The compatibility matrix may be helpful, though it only lists DOs: http://www.daz3d.com/compatibility-matrix :).
