Intel or Ryzen? NVIDIA 3070?

I am considering upgrading to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8 GB. Does anyone have experience or thoughts on this? I need fast rendering for animation.
ALSO, I'm lookingg at Intel Core i9 9th Gen 9900K (3.60 GHz). Any thoughts on that vs. AMD 3800? I'm getting ready to spend a lot of money on upgrading, so I want to do it right, so any advice is greatly appreciated!

  • IMO I would go the AMD Ryzen 7 3800X with a 570 motherboard over the Intel. Be sure to get the PCIe Gen 4 NVMe drive for your boot drive (don't think Intel supports Gen 4 yet).

I've spoken to people that like their RTX 3070/3080 but don't personally have one.

  • Awesome. Thank  you  so much. Here are the specs of what I was considering. IF I go w/ the AMD Ryzen I wouldn't need the Gen 4 NVMe drive I assume? I apprecaite your thoughts ...
    AMD Ryzen 7 3800X (8x 3.9 GHZ/32MB L3 Cache)
    Liquid Cooling
    32 GB
    NVIDIA (GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER - 8 GB GDDR6).
Primary HD: 2 TB - SSD
    Secondary HD: 4 TB WD - 256MB Cache, 7200rpm, 6.0Gb/s - Dual 4TB drives
    OS: Windows Pro
    Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550-F

Also, Corsair CC-9011078-WW Obsidian Series 750D Airflow Edition, Full Tower ATX Case, Power Supply 850W,

  • ^ Correction: I am leaning toward the RTX 3070 rather than the RTX 2080.

  • It looks like that board has one NVMe slot that supports Gen 4 and I would definitely utilize that over a SATA SSD. SATA SSDs are 600 MB/s and NVMe drives can be up to 5000 MB/s. It is worth it even if you only get a 512 GB boot drive.

You can still do a 2 TB SSD for your DAZ content if you want to. I've got one mounted in place of my C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library folder so DAZ Studio doesn't know the difference.

  • That's super helpful. Is there anything in my specs above you'd change?

  • Everything else looks good to me.

  • Thanks again. I really appreciate it!
