Please refer to the attached pic file. This is an image in the making using Reality 2.5.
Notice the white discoloration under the left hand and on the right point finger.
Anyone know why this is occurring?
It occurs on some models and not others and it can show up on any part of the body where there skin.
In this particular case it just the hands and fingers, but I have seen worse in past projects.
This particular model is the newly released Sabrina from Lyoness.

I appreciate helpful feedback and Thank you in advance.

Seems to be a too strong light coming from below that washes out the skin texture. Try to turn down the light coming from below. Maybe turn it off completely, just for testing. If it goes away then this light causes the white spots.

    Edit:
If you do not have a light coming from below, then maybe these are reflections from the floor. Reality can be very sensitive with those things.

I am attaching a bird's eye view of the scene. The primary light is on the model's right or our left and the opposing light is fill. Primary light is set at 100 watts where as the fill is set at 30 watts.

I am wondering if it may be reflection properties on the model's skin, but it seems odd to only impact under the hand as opposed any of the skin on the model's right side.

I'm not a Reality user, but I was wondering if it was related to reflection settings on the skin too. I have seen similar issues in 3Delight renders where the skin surfaces had reflections enabled. Aside from the issue at hand, this is shaping up to be an excellent render! :)

Looks almost like a UV map issue as there is quite a harsh line between the skin texture and the white. Does a 3Delight render of that scene turn out alright?

It looks like a lighting issue to me—what lights are you using? I agree with Renpatsu that it does at least seem to be that the UV mapping is not correct, but I think this is unlikely; assuming this defect is not apparent in Studio renders, then I can't see it being a map problem. It's also possible that you have specularity too high. Does the texture set have a spec map? That is a possibility, but my money is still on lighting, particularly if you are using DAZ lights rather than Reality mesh lights as they tend to create harsh boundaries. They are really not recommended for use in Lux.

I agree with Scott-Livingston that this is shaping up to be a very nice render.

I use Luxrender via Reality exclusively, by the way.

    HI everyone.

Thank you for your replies. I been working late today and just got back to seeing your replies. I will make adjustments with specular dials and rerun the reality engine. To answer some of your questions, the two lights in the scene are soft box lights from Reality which are considered mesh lights with extra features such as being able to add gobo and focus adjustments to the light. No issues when rendering in 3 Delight regardless of the model, and I do not mix lights between reality and 3 Delight lights. It would be nice if Reality offered additional lights.

Also I wanted to note that this phenomenon has occurred in Genesis 2 females models where I have done a lot work and I have not done to much with Michael 6 so I have yet to see it in Genesis 2 male. In addition I also do a lot work with Victoria 4 and all V4 clones from Thorne and some purchases from Renderosity and I haven't seen any anomalies.

I will play around with some of the dials and get back with you all.
Thank you for compliments on image. The present image now after 12 hours of rendering looks very crisp and that discoloration really stands out more so than the screen shot above.

I will get back with you all.

I found out what is causing it. It has nothing to do with Daz Studio dials in the surfaces or lights tabs. On the Reality 2.5 GUI there is a check box setting called "Surface Fuzz". I unchecked this for the hands and the discoloration went away. Notice a difference between the hand and arm where Surface Fuzz is still applied to the arm.

I also experimented with Top Coat and there was no effect. The skin on the hand now looks plastic. I will have to do some more adjustments or perhaps put Surface Fuzz back on and change the Lux Mats to glass... I don't know.

Anyway I am providing screenshot to so others can see the difference and some of what Reality GUI looks like.
