Going Ape on Rendering Ape World Chimp

Any help will be appreciated. What am I doing wrong here?
I purchased the Ape World Chimpanzee - I set up a scene, import the chimp, rendered it okay, saved the project file. Later I came back to make some changes to the set. The chimp will not render! I took it out after an hour and re-rendered the scene and the scene rendered perfectly without the chimp.
So I think maybe the file somehow became corrupt, deleted and reinstalled it. Then the database was trashed (thats another problem, with database crashing since the last Installer update after installing new files with installer) - I then delete all the relevant database files, and start over importing the meta-files. I pull up the project file again and get an Render Error Notice. I abort that project file and start a new scene, the darn chimp still refuses to render. It sat for an hour and a half and not one pixel of the ape would render.

Yes - the Chimp will render just using the "default" DAZ Studio lighting without any other lights popped on.
Its when I use preset lighting or set up other lighting does it refuse to render.
