I realized I hadn't done anything with https://www.daz3d.com/earkhams-zworld-broken-road-ii and I love all of E-Arkham's sets. So I loaded it up for a scene with Owen and Boyd. I rarely use bloom, but it worked this go around.

Yeah, I've wanted an ear down morph for some time. I still want one that allows the ears to go down fully but this at least allows them to go down some.

No, I think I bought one over at rendo, who was almost a bit neon in his ruddy skin. I haven't seen many, and the freckle overlays seem to be mostly female.
Here is the dForce Angeloi outfit for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Males. The hair is dForce Romantic curls. For Genesis 8 females.
So, I picked up one of the smaller Assassin 8.1 bundles. I like the character, but the lack of the HD to me, is a deal breaker. Thinking of returning him. I don't see paying 20 dollars more for the HD, when he should have that with the bundle.

Assassin is a nice, basic figure. He makes a good tough guy/action figure. I like the Zenty hair as well. He really needs that HD or another figures HD to bring out some details in the arms and hands, which are a tad smooth and basic looking compared to the roughness of his face.
I have Assassin and his HD. Unfortunately, his promos do not lie;, his HD does very slightly more than nothing at all for his arms. Seems to provide a touch of extra detail for the back of his arms; almost nothing for the front.

Ugh, well I am disappointed in that, but thanks for confirming my suspicions.
I may see if one of the other character's hd brings out definition in those arms. Otherwise he's only going to be fully clothed, but this confirms my view the character is half baked or rushed.

Hmm. Thanks for making these comparison shots. This really adds a lot more to his body! I think your images show how versatile the figure is!
I think I'm going with
1. The brute HD (I think this is a nice balance of Grizzled, and vein).
2. Dark Guard. (the veins popping are nice for a certain type of bad guy)
3. Elios/Darius as a tie. I think Darius has nice arms, but he has some weird muscle indentation in deltoids. But They both have the defined 6 pack, just slightly different locations!
I think he's going to probably work best with his own head HD and almost anyone else's body HD. (Well ... Maybe not, say, Wolfgang's HD. But you know what I mean.)
I'm mildly surprised that nobody thought that with a character that's relatively muscular, his HD wouldn't need some additional definition and veins in his body.
Anyway, I tried him with his own head's HD, Torment's body HD, and pretty much everybody's veins HD -- Brute, Torment, Dain, Juan Carlos, Kwan. Might be just a touch of overkill, but otherwise, Torment's body HD seems to work OK for him. The trick is going to be that his normals don't support whichever HD is being used, and I don't know that using his head normals and someone else's body normals (never mind everybody else's body normals) will necessarily work as well. You'd also need to do a map transfer to get the 8.0 normals to work properly.
@Serene Night, yeah, I was surprised by how well The Brute's HD worked out for him.
@vwrangler, Interesting. I tried Torment's HD on him but it messed up his stomach for me. You can see the issue more clearly in this render:

I think I may have had his own body HD still dialed in, so it pushed back against Torment. At least, that's all I can think of why it would have made such a difference. And actually, if I look more closely at my image, it looks like he's got a faint 12-pack.
Probably Brute and Elios are the best to dial in with him, along with whichever vein morphs you prefer.
@vwrangler, yeah, I rendered mostly the HDs that would match with his own abs because I wanted a definition there. I also tried Kwan's HD (which I love) but, like Torment's, that one didn't match at all. I didn't check but I suspect that maybe Juan Carlo's Head HD might match up more closely with Assassin 8.
I'm still debating whether to get him or not. I'd only use his textures, so he's a little pricey. Also, there was a comment in the commons, that his gens were "out of whack". Have you noticed anything?

Huh. Another name-and-number male character, just over a week after the last one. And another elfy one. What, were they just sitting on all or them or something?
Seems perfectly decent, but I don't feel a huge urge to pick him up at the moment. Although he does have an extra discount for Daz+ members because of the anniversary sale, but still.
His HD seems to do less in the face than Assassin's -- he is younger-presenting -- and slightly more in the body. He gets perky nipples! (Seriously, that's one of his promo images. Standard definition: Flat chest, no nipples. HD chest: hello sailor! or fellow elf or whoever.)
Torian reminds me of someone -- an actor, I think -- but I can't put my finger on who, exactly.
I wonder if it's going to be like this the entire month up until Victoria 9 appears. (And for the male characters, until Michael 9 appears.) All the backloaded characters come out to play, or something.
He reminds me of Oliver Jackson-Cohen.
I have Torian, the two non-balding hairs, and his outfit and the hd in the cart. I like the stuff, although his face could be more elven especially the eyes.. I am not buying the bundle since it includes two female things I don't want and a balding hairstyle I won't ever use.
I like his look, but aside from his ears he looks like a regular human, that hair also resembles Orson Hair.
I will be taking a closer look late tonight but the items alacarte with hd, aren't cheap.
I suspect we will be deluged with 8.1 and 8 content this month because buying trends suggest once a new figure is released the older generations are less popular.
I will confess my idea of elves is based on LOTR films and tv so I expect them to look like normal human beings. A long time ago, my brother and I were given a tour of Industrial Light and Magic by the then director of cinematography; ironically, my sister was interviewing with the now defunct LucasArts and given a similar tour! Anyway, the facility is in a refurbished hospital in the middle of one of the most scenic parts of San Francisco and full of props and a bit of George Lucas's art collection. In one office, there is a life cast replica of Hugo Weaving that was used in one of the Matrix movies so I got to see "Hugo Weaving" up close. I'm not sure there was anything particularly elven about his eyes even though he portrayed Elrond. I know two people who have met Cate Blanchett so I will inquire but I think there is a diversity of possible elven looks as the new LOTR Rings of Power shows.
One thing I am curious about is the before mentioned Emma&Jordi hair. I thought I had all of their male hair products and I don't think I have seen any that that match the realism of this hair

They aren't exactly alike. But they are similar enough at a quick glance for me to note it.
That said, I like them. This is a classic elf look! Orson's hair has a cuff in the back as well.
I think people are listening to you about masculine hairlines!

The place was quite remarkable. I am still amazed that this guy who has an Oscar for cinematography used my crappy camera to take pictures of my brother and me. The place has no actual street address (they tend to create dummy companies i.e Acme Notions Inc where delivers go for example) so we recieved visitor passes, and a parking pass for the garage under the facility. We went up an elevator and through to a plaza where the Yoda statue lives to the lobby. The lobby is a weird mixture of vintage and modern like a trendy club filled with props, art, and faux books. There is a counter like something from a 30's movie with people who are dressed like hotel people from a 30's movie (red jackets, black pants, jaunty round boxlike caps with a strap. We signed an electronic nondisclosure form, went through a vintage looking turnstyle which had a reader for our passes and into the facility. One thing i want to mention is Javva the Hut, a little coffee stand next to the employee store (https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Javva_the_Hutt). I am still amused that this guy who has an Oscar for cinematography took photos of my brother and me with my crappy camera!
