i know i read this somewhere how to properly save actors for presets. how do i save hair and gen add ons? when i reopen the character all the items that need fitting don't import with the preset. should they be parented instead or do i have to do something else? i did right click the scene and clicked "select all" and only the gens imported. humf thanks. genesis base m5/ daz 4.6. also how do i TriAx m4 v4 f4 series for presets?

There is something called a Wearable preset. SickleYield did a tutorial on this. This is one possibility for some things. Another is Hierarchical which works with things that are parented. FixMyPCMike also covered some things here.

Presets don't store much mesh data so are of no use for what you want, instead use the scene subset, this will save the figure, any textures you've added as well as anything you have conformed or parented to the figure.

As for the older Poser figures, never convert them to TriAx rigging, not unless you fancy spending months reworking the rig, painting new Weight Maps, reworking the JCM's and that's before rebuilding every single morph.
