Confused - what model/format should I use for children

I am trying to create some illustrations with kid models (age range: 8-10, not teenagers). My first attempt was using the Genesis 2(?) Child preset in 4.6. The result can be seen in the attachment below- it looks like a child with an adult's head, even after fiddling with all sliders.

So maybe I need a better base model or more face morphs? This had me looking at the available store products, but with DAZ' perennial format changes I am not sure what model formats are considered "current". Can you recommend any suitable products?

    Thank you chohole!

Why would I want to use the growing-up-for-genesis2 bundle instead of the growing-up-for-genesis item ?

The only real difference is that one is for Genesis 2 and the other is for classic Genesis. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Genesis has the huge advantage of being unisex, so one wardrobe fits all.

My personal preference is Genesis 2 though, and for one glaring reason especially when working with children. The face. Genesis is a great figure, but it loses a lot of polygons in the face, making figures a lot less expressive. Children tend to be more expressive, so it's handy to have a good range for displaying emotions.

The additional polygons also helps a lot when working with GenX2 and reverse-engineering old Kids 4 morphs or mixing sliders to create your own unique kids.

I just purchased Growing Up for Genesis and here's a quick test render comparing that product with the DAZ default child preset.

Is there a similar option for V4? I have a character using V4, Forest Daphni and morphs and would like a way to adjust her height and age without out losing definition or making her look deformed.

Genesis and Genesis 2 use a different technology than was available when V4 was released.

The rigging on the fourth generation figures works very differently to Genesis so they can't be morphed in quite as extreme ways without destroying the rig. There are some 'teen' morphs, but those only make the figure a little bit shorter.

However, there is a Kids 4 figure which is basically the 'child' for the fourth generation figures. It's a unisex figure, similar to Genesis, but there are both male and female character morphs available for the figure.
