Creating Texture Products

I've been practicing texturing the last few months and was curious about creating texture packs for the store.  Am I allowed to make textures packs for sale for products that I originally didn't create?

Cheers

plenty do over at Renderosity, I have noticed DAZ does not seem keen on selling them after the initial item has been released except for PC+ buyouts.

  • AFAIK Daz has a policy that texture add-ons should be released with the base product. So you could ask PAs that make clothing (for example) if you could collaborate by making a texture add-on. Then you will need to coordinate with that PA to ensure both product are submitted into PASS so marketing know they are to release together.

    What does PA stand for?

Also, thank you for your responses.  I'll look more into my options.  Maybe even make some clothing assets myself once I get better with cloth.

  • PA = Published Artists. So the content creators that sell through Daz are PAs. You can find out more about how to become a PA here:https://www.daz3d.com/community/community-publishing

Also make sure that your textures are created originally using the templates and not over the existing ones

Yes, but as stated already, addon sets are not normally released at a later time than the main set.  However, the Platinum Club is an acception to the rule so you could start off trying your skills at texturing PC+ items and selling them to the PC+

Seems like a short-sighted policy, since having a growing range of textures would drive additional sales to the original product. But I suppose they hope to drive us to buy more new things, rather than make better use of the stuff we already have...

I imagined that data suggests texture add-ons don't make as much money unless released together with the base. Though that is simply speculation on my part. Exceptions do occurr, though. Like the texture add-ons that we've been seeing for Daz Dog 8 and Daz Horse.
  • Moved to Art Studio as it is not a Product Suggestion.

The Dog and Horse products (with the exception of Ember Horse) aren't just texture products, though, but also morphs, and in the case of some of the dogs, new UVs and dForce hair addons as well.

Indeed, though I was thinking specifically of Ember Horse and Statuary Materials for Dog 8, which are just texture add-ons. Characters add-ons are a different breed (pun intended XD).
