Lightbeams in daz?

How can I make beams of light appear in daz 4.6? I've tried all kinds of lights, settings but I just get the light to fall on the object but not the beam itself...is it even possible or is it all postwork using PS that you see in the fancy renders on the web?

There are a number of methods, some easier than others (the aptly-named Simple Godrays product being one of the easier ways). You can find more information and tips in this thread.
The fastest and easiest way to do things like that is to use special brushes in Photoshop (postwork). Deviney has a lot of them in his store here at DAZ.
For light effects try this one: http://www.daz3d.com/rons-light-and-shadows
Look at the images in my gallery, they are full of that kind of stuff :-)
I'm fond of these options:

If you can actually see the beam of light its called "Volumetric" lighting. Often done by using some kind of prop with its own lighting. In poser its called "Ambient".
Thanks for the comments, appreciate it a lot! :)
