Almost 500gig mostly daz. What files can I delete without hurting anything? How can I permanently delete Items I no longer want?

Quite impossible for us to say.. I'd suggest going over your installed packages to see ones you may not need or want. Anything beyond that.. At best you can clean up example textures and documentation but that won't make huge differences.
(edit)
I remembered something which happened to me, maybe it applies to your setup as well... Many packages provide both materials for Daz Studio and Poser, you know "DS" vs. "Ps". Fun fact: if you're only using Daz Studio you don't need the Poser files. Keep in mind that this doesn't apply all the time, but if you have 2 types of the same package where the only difference is DS vs. Ps then it becomes pretty obvious. So if this applies to your setup as well then you may be able to clean up a lot of unneeded space.
It took me a few years before I realized the obvious (I've always been a casual user and well, never really noticed) and when I did I easily saved me approx. 700Mb - 1Gb of free diskspace.
Hope this can still help!
Great idea but how do I make them stay gone? DIM always wants to install them again.
I use DIM all the time. Although it presents Poser type products that I bought, I don't click those boxes to add a check. I only click a check into DS products boxes to download and install to my DAZ folder on my external drive. And as another poster mentioned with some older products both are needed. I download Poser items the same way, by only checking the ones I want and download and install to my Poser folder on my external drive, just in case. They won't be "gone" from your product libary, but you can avoid installation of Poser products by not checking them before selecting the Queue button.
You can also hide items you don't want DIM to show you.
Also make sure you are not installing with DIM and with Daz Connect (from within Daz Studio itself). If you do, you will end up with everything duplicated and Daz Studio will always use the Daz Connect version.
If you're using DIM to install products, make sure that the "Delete Package Once Installed" box on the Ready to Install tab is ticked. And, if it wasn't, check the contents of C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads. You may have many gigabytes of stuff in there, and you can delete the lot of it.
Thank you so much for this tip. It has helped my poor old computer a lot!
