I love Filament! Moar! <3
feel free to post in this thread
it is for Filament lovers
Bought Animate2 today, first time trying animation, if I have something Ill post here :)
I've given Filament a couple of quick tries.
I love the potential, but my poor brain can't handle trying to learn Filament and Octane fundamentals at the same time.
I'm very intrigued by Filament's treatment of luminosity. I hope you have a blast!
- 3W
something a bit deep but also rather shallow
Yay! Filament Art Thread! :D Thank you, WendyLuvsCatz! I was hoping someone would start a thread for Filament here. :)
Black not Red Crow inn this time with the smokes san diffuse as StrangeFate suggested for filament
still eerie frozen so I am going to see if mCasual's TexAnim script will work with Filament
keep you posted
scrolling through my images so far rendered it indeed is working!!!
unfortunately the opacity maps don't always keep up with the script render
dunno if its because I have 900 smoke images like I do frames rather than a loop
I created them using Enlight Pixaloop on the texture map and converting the 30 sec mp4 to images
Wow, love the sea creature one in particular!
I'm a mac user and I'll have to wait a while until I can get my hands on all the Filament goodness...
In the meantime I wanna see all the renders!
(Also, I'm kinda hoping that by the time Filemant for mac arrives, it'll support SSS and emissives... ok, that's a different subject all together.)
yeah they need to fix just D|S working on Big Sur first
maybe two Mac builds one for legacy OS and a current one
I solved the TexAnim
for some reason I need to set my render length 2 frames less than my image series
899 frames to get the 901 smoke opacity images to sync
This is awesome, I really dig Filament for environments. I think it's the same thing I like about pre-Iray stuff, where it feels like it makes a better background for characters that aren't 100% photorealistic.
I've been continuing my Filament and Iray composites and man, that render viewport feature is super helpful. This was done with a mix of Iray, Filament, and smooth shaded, plus Nik Collection and Photoshop filters. I used the smooth shaded pass as a mask to define the light areas with the Filament pass.
the render passes certainly add something to the image a single render cannot do
I do notice in CGI breakdowns the pros all do it too
it misses the occasional one but I went through and just deleted those frames
WendyLuvsCatz Thanks for sharing the info and results
I thought I would share another quick animation experiment This time I wanted to explore how many moving figures I could place in one scene. I was able to have 8 aniblock figures before I started having problems with filament. It took 5 seconds per frame to render. The stock music is from https://www.free-stock-music.com/alexander-nakarada-mjolnir.html
I love your shadows in that
Well so far I like Filament. Even when I'm planning on doing an IRAY render, Filament makes it possible to see what direction the light will come from with an HDRI. And it makes rendering videos maybe viable. I hope people start adding Filament shaders alongside the IRAY ones like they used to do with 3Delight and IRAY.
hopefully they can do so without being pressured to
some actually want to but it shouldn't be an obligation just like 3Delight or Poser versions of stuff isn't
and hopefully people won't gripe it's distracting them from making other stuff they want
Thank you, I still can't get shadows to work when using "Atmosphere for Filament" so this is two renders combined. Also, it seems that shadows flicker a lot unless it's the right distance light and camera angles.
I can see a lot of people being put off by filament in its current state, but I couldn't resist exploring what we have now, it's kind of fun to see what it can do in this first implementation. Hopefully, the bugs will be worked out soon and it lives up to its potential benefits
Here's a quick test animation I did which I rendered to test Spring Dynamics using Filament. I have questions. Is it possible to add a background so I can apply a green screen? I couldn't figure out how to get a background to render unless I add a prop. I have a green screen prop somewhere so I might try that, but it would be nice if Filament would render a green screen. Any ideas?
So far, I'm liking it. It rendered out a 300 frame animation in no time, lickety split!
very cute
a png series should work with alpha
otherwise an image on a plane,
I use mesh backdrops and cycloramas a lot in general rather than environment background as I move the camera
Thanks. I'll give that a try. I'm currently working on an animation in 3Delight. LAMH doesn't show up in Filament sadly. Once I'm done with that animation, I'll try another animation using Filament and add a plane as a my green screen. I want to be able to add an image behind my character in my video during editing in Hitfilm. A green plane should work.
I use png series with alpha in Hitfilm
Now I see this. I just spent several hours figuring out how to use the Green Screen Effect because of course I couldn't quite get it from just one video tutorial. I had to watch several. lol. I actually got the effect working now working. I think. Sounds like your way might have been much easier!
Another test animation using Spring Dynamics and rendering with Filament. It took longer to figure out how to do all the post in HitFilm than it did to set up the shots and render out the video! I got creative and added a background image and used HitFlim's particle simulator for snow. I need to work on my transitions between cameras. The Filament render doesn't look too bad though. I need to see about tweaking the skin a little. I used an IBL lighting from an older 3Delight product. It's not great but not too bad either.
yeah if I am forced to use greenscreen with stuff like Facerig I am never overjoyed with all the keying work.
png series is just so simple, I overlay lots of them doing individual characters and creating drop shadows from a second layer skewed, desaturated and blurred
that turned out very good, love the crazy hat
Black Crow Inn Populated
the renders were fast but animating in DAZ Studio is very difficult for me
it took longer to set up than to render that's for sure
those replicated M3 and V3 took an eternity and still have awful ticks and face stabbings
I modified Gen4 aniblocks but might be better puppeteering my own poses as it is disturbing
I did animate the fire but forgot D|S expects a keyframe at frame 0 too
Not my first Filament render. But one I wanted to share. I'll be going back to it when Filament can use DOF.
There's a teeny-tiny little bit of postwork
very good and honestly I think Filament would be fine to use if doing postwork anyway especially for comics
