Solid hair?

Hello all,

First post, and newb to Daz.

I'm looking for solid / geometry hair, so when I export the model, I have solid hair, rather than the hair system.

I have seen this http://www.daz3d.com/Toon-Amy-for-Genesis-Bundle and it's the right sort of style for what I want, but I'm unsure how it will export, any ideas?

Once it's exported, what I want to do is then modify it via 3Ds Max or Zbrush.

Thanks,
Dean

Hello dean, and welcome to the New Users Forum.

You can select the Toon Amy hair in the Scene pane, and use File > Export, to export it as an OBJ file.

Most of the magic in hair models is done by the use of transparency maps which allow for the individual strand look. The geometry is usually a bit rudimentary, but below is a shot of Amy hair as loaded from the Content Library, then exported as an OBJ and imported again.

    Does that help?

    Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for the help! Any chance you could show a wireframe please?

I understand how the realistic hair works, and it's very clever, I'm just wanting hair that is pure geometry as I'm going for a "miniature" look, where the hair would be solid, not actual hair.

    Cheers,
    Dean

    OK dean, no problem.

What is shown below is the Wire Shaded view, which should give you a good idea of how the geometry is made up. There are just over 50,000 polys in this hair model.
