Question about BOSS Lights

So I have the BOSS Lights set. How do I set it up for a Scene with 4 Characters in it? Two of the Characters are up front and Center, and two are farther back. I want ALL the Characters to be affected by the Lights so the whole scene is lit correctly, Im just not sure how to do that.

My opinion is Boss Lights are only good for potrait scenes with one character and using the camaras that come with the Boss Lights. However, if the 4 characters are close enough together set it up as for 1 character and hide the parts of the lighting setup as needed. No optimal but BOSS Lights are not that flexible.
What you want is to set up a Scene Only or Dome - Scene render in your Enviroment render settings and set up a 3 Point Lighting setup for each character, adding a forth backlight for each character. if needed if the characters are far enough apart. If they are too close, just set up one 3 point light setup and add a 4th backlight.
Alternatively you could buy Colm Jackson's Render Studio 2.0 as it's much more flexible (but it's typical portrait studio type lighting either but still good).
Hmm... I admit I'm not that good at lighting which is why I got BOSS Lighst. I will look into Colm Jacksons stuff and see what it can do. If All else fails I'll do the 3 point light setup. I did not know I had to set that up for Each character. Thank you
nonesuch00 is it the Render Stdio 2.0 Volumetric Points?
Click & Render IBL would probably be pretty good for that, too. It's a single HDRI, but it's set up with key points in it that look like multiple light sources when it's rendered, a lot of them include backlighting as well.
It ends up looking like a portrait light setup with 2 or 3 lights, but it's just the HDRI.
Yes, it is.

Also, you are probably better at lighting (adding spot, point, and so on photometric lights in the DAZ Studio menu) than you think, but those lights you manually add won't work correctly if you do any of these 3 things in your scene:
a) Have Sun - Sky chosen in (render) Environment (for iRay)
b) Have an HDR image selected in the (render) Environment (for iRay)
c) Have "Spectral Rendering" turned on (this one I'm not 100% sure of as new DAZ SDtudio versions changes things but you can try it both on & off and take note: does it significantly dim your added photometric & other photometric lights in your scene?)
Finally in the viewport did you know that in the drop down menu where you choose the camera you can choose one of the photometric lights in your scene and it will look as if that camera is a camera instead in the viewport? That is good for placing lights, adjusting the strength, radius, and reach, as well as light color, in the viewport.
Well crud. I Bought the Render Studio 2.0 and just now found out my Daz program Updates to 4.14 >.< RS 2.0 only currently works with 4.12. Well Hope they get an update to it soon.
Can you explain what you did? I just tried one of the prebuilt sets in 4.14 and it worked fine.
@Daventaki , I installed it but it does not appear anywhere under my files in Daz. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places?
I dont used Smart Content but I know in the Content library it was under Lighting presets/Render Studio 2.
Had a look at the product page there is a pdf located here readme located here. Looks like its in several different folders for Smart Content.
Cool. Thank you!
If you are using "Smart Content" it will not show up in Smart Content if you have anything selected in the viewport or scene tab. Unselect everything in the viewport and scene tab and then Smart Content will show the Render Studio 2.0 Volumetric Plus in your content.
Alternatively, go to your tab in DAZ Studio
Content Library -> My DAZ Studio Library -> Light Presets -> Render Studio 2
* My DAZ Studio Library (you may of named this folder something else during install)
Also, to use the Render Studio 2.0 without the Volumetrics just don't add the 'Atmospheric' props to your scene or delete them out or hide them in your scene tab if you want clearer lighting and focus.
Also, he has a Render Studio 1.0 as well to help you.

Ok Sweet! Thank you.
been playing around with Render Studio 2, and so far I am Loving it. Just need to find the Manual.
There is if I remember a very brief PDF for that product. There is also a companion product that is built using Render Studio 2.0 that has several scenes built using Render Studio 2.0. That product is also made by Colm Jackson.
