Turning Lights ON in Brooklyn Flat (and OFF in Tesla3dcorp High classroom)

I can't find any way to turn lights ON in the Brooklyn Flat by Tesla3dCorp SKU: 55131 - or lights OFF in Tesla3dcorp High (Classroom).  Has an ON /OFF option not been included as part of the design?  Or is it just some Daz thing that I don't understand yet?

(Setting Emissives ON for the lights in the flat does not help - just puts a white glow in lights)

That is actually the solution — the only bit you've missed is that lights can be bright or dim, and the default setting is dim.

    • Select the lights material and apply Emissive again, then go to the Surfaces pane.
    • Scroll down to near the bottom, and you'll see the Emissive parameters.
    • Leave Emission Color at white, unless you want to use coloured light effects.
    • Change Emission Temperature to the default value of 6500 (white sunlight) or 4000-ish (for a "warm" light).
    • Put a higher value in Luminance. Note that the default units (candela) are tiny, so this can get ridiculously large.
    • If you change Luminance Units from "cd/m²" to "kcd/m²" you can use much smaller numbers for the Luminance value.

Note that you will not get the right value for Luminance on your first try — you will need to do a lot of test renders and experiment with different values. There's no need to let the tests run all the way, though, just wait until the scene brightness stabilises then decide whether or not the current Luminance value looks right.

    Many thanks for your reply.

I think I've just realised my mistake!

I've had the whole light fitting selected in the Surfaces tab (see image) rather than just the lamp bulb itself!
