Selecting Geometry In Geometry Editor

I can select an object by "select connected" out from among other geometry but all I can see is hide and delete.

Is there a way to directly change that selection into an object all its own, so it can be moved independently from the rest of its geometry?

Currently I just duplicate the whole object several times and leave only the objects I want isolated in each set.

I would be nice to be able to simply select geometry and make it into its own separate object.

Any help on this is very much appreciated, thanks in advance.

If you truely want to do a separate object and not just simply a new surface, you can either delete out all the geometry (select the geometry, right click -> geometry editing -> delete selected geometry) or you can select the geometry you want to keep, then right click -> geometry selection -> Invert selection, then do the delete steps above. Once the geometry you don't want is removed, you can save as new scene subset or export as object.

Thanks for the great tips Kaotkbilss, I was hoping I could just select a piece of geometry and right click and select something like "make this its own object".

Also a lot of times deleting pieces of an object corrupts the entire object and there is no undo...

This is a part of Daz that could use some updated features. :)
