.ds store file

Okay noob question here, I notice that a lot of free downloadable add ons have a .ds store file with it. Normally it asks if I want to overwrite mine or create a new file, blah blah blah. Does this file do anything? Do I need it?

Thanks!

ds_store files are Mac files. If you are on a PC you can delete them. It just means the freebie creator created them on a Mac and that's what their computer puts in the file structure. I think they are database files for the files in the folder, so if on a Mac you may want to keep them.

I'm on PC and regularly do a search for ds_store files and delete them . You may also find a folder called MacOS, you can delete that too.

If you have installed the Default Lights and Shaders for DAZ Studio you should have some shaders in the folder MyLibrary=>Shader Presets
If you don´t have the Default Lights and Shaders for DAZ Studio installed, take a look at your product library. It comes for free with DAZ Studio.

To your other question, it is possible to add freebies and things you have purchased elsewhere.

lol. i been trying to understand it. i believe i actually found the right folder for doing it too. cuz the other one i found doesnt have this type of info in the folder. im still new at this. so its all a lil confusing.

amd yes. there are some shaders and all that in that folder. but its also referring to other things like morphs and clothes addons and such things. i dont want to mess something up so i thought to ask for advice. it be easier if my mind would work quicker. lol.
