In-Game Character Creator/Customization License?

DAZ3D sells a license to use all original DAZ3D assets inside a game (http://www.daz3d.com/indie-game-developer-license).

On a side note, It's pretty sad and frustrating you can only use original daz assets and not every single asset on the store in a game. Everyone is losing from that:
* People like me who would want to buy these assets for their app/game.
* The vendors who are losing potential customers such as myself.
* DAZ3D themselves for making their product not very approachable to game developers. (and I assume they also get some profit on any sale from any vendor in the site?)

Having said that, this is not what wanted to ask in this thread. My question is simple: I understand I can use all the original daz assets in my app, but can I make a full custom character creator based on DAZ3D morphs, wardrobe, and props? There are plugins such as Mega Daz for Unity that let you do that: https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/12295.

And one more little question. I'm assuming the game license also works for any type of application, regardless of it being an actual game. Is this indeed the case?

Several of the Big PAs have their own game licenses.
Remember that stuff is very cheap at DAZ, even including a bunch of gaming licenses, if you compare to a site lite turbosquied where you get full licenses but every asset is in the range $200-$1000 if you want the same quality as the DAZ store.

They'd lose more by letting people freely distribute their models without consequence. The game license is there to ensure that all due precautions are taken to prevent people stealing their assets, giving them legal leverage against those who do. The cost is to ensure they are compensated for the distribution in a game.

As mentioned, compared to rival sites who offer 'free' assets, you're getting a far better quality of model. And compared to other paid-for sites, you're getting them at a greatly reduced cost. Either way, game development isn't going to be easy or cheap unless you develop your own models.

As for your question, if the figures being used are Daz figures then it shouldn't be an issue. The issue comes from assets such as clothing, which aren't always developed by Daz themselves. In those instances, you will need an additional game license from the PA who produced the item. Note that not all PA's even have game licenses, so those without you can safely assume you are not allowed to distribute their works, in whole or in part, with your program.

I'm fairly confident the game license extends to programs using the figures as well, though naturally most consider something with 3D models to be intended for games purposes.

It should also be noted that you can use 2D still renders, or even animations and movies, in your works WITHOUT needing a game license.

I would caution that if intending to use a game license for purposes other than gaming -- ? --- check with the company first!
All programs is too general a question. No for 3D printing for eg.
