Actually all ron's cool brushes.

Would these still work with photoshop cs2, or would they work with any other free software like GIMP?

There is an app called ABR Mate. It's a converter of .abr photoshop brushes, theoretically all PS brushes should work seamlessly in GIMP after conversion (I dont have any of Ron's stuff, but other PS brushes worked like a charm in gimp for me)

Just google something along the lines

"ABR mate PS to GIMP tutorial", you should easily find what you're looking for

That particular set is very old and says in the Notes  that it requires "Phostoshop CS and above" - I would think that means that CS2 is fine. Some of Ron's newer sets need CS6 or better, some CC. I use lots of Ron's brushes in Photoshop Elements - I've used some of the older sets in Elements 7 which dates back to 2008, though I mostly use Elements 2018 nowadays.

You could I suppose take a chance but return any that don't work.
