Genesis Supersuit issues

edited December 1969 in New Users

So im a fairly new user to Daz Studio. I have been a poser user for well over a decade and know all the ins and out of the software. i had a friend as me to create a superhero scene and while i was out looking at what was available i came across the Genesis Supersuit. Looking at all the options it had i decided to purchase it and a few other things and naturally at the same time decided it was tiime to give Daz studio a try. Well learning curve aside it works rather flawlessly and the installer is a huge time saver.

Problem i am having is that using the base genesis figure and applying the suit are fine. When i try to add a preset shape nothing happens and when i add a teaxture to it it does not show or render any transparencies. Im sure it is something that i am missing but i cannot for the life of me figure out what the issue is.

As a note i have the lateset version of Daz Studio. I ahve also changed the install directory to my D drive as my main is a small ssd for basically windows only. I have associated the filder paths in the content manager as well. I am dumbfounded as to what i am doing wrong. Any insight or ideas would be much appreciated!

Have you actually selected the supersuit before trying to apply the textures/shapes?

A fair proportion of the materials in the Supersuit sets are Shader presets, analogous to an MT5 file in Poser - they need to have one or more surfaces selected to do anything. There should, however, be a number of complete "looks", materials presets which are analogous to an MC6 file and need only the target object selected.

Oddly enough right after i posted this topic it out of the blue began to work. Which is a little nerve racking.

Yes i did have the suit selected as many of the options would not show up in the side pane (still using the basic layout as i learn program)

it might have just needed a restart after i made all the necessary changes and i had made a bunch of changes to folder paths and had not closed out of it in a while. Still learning but thanks for the replies. Ill chaulk it up to the newbness.

Yes, this will definitely cause Weird Stuff™ to happen. Whenever you change the content settings, it's always best to close D|S then start it again, that makes sure the startup procedures pick up the new settings properly and don't try to cling on to whatever might be left of the old settings.

Honestly at this point i dont remember. I dont think so but it could have been. Things do seem to be working much better now. Like i said it was a newbness mistake most likely. God forbid you read any instructions or watch any tutorial videos ( BAH!) lets just jump right in a screw EVERYTHING! up lol

lol Yeah it is a common mistake people make that was all so I thought I would ask. :) Good that it is working now.

To be honest I start learning all my software like that for about a week then I go looking for tutorials. I feel that familiarising myself with the software first helps me follow a tut much easier.
