Restore Figure Rigging. When do you use it?

I don't get what's going on here.
I'm doing the expression morphs for my figure. When I adjust rigging to shape everything goes exactly as it should and looks fine. But when I try to do an ERC freeze for the morph everything explodes.
I have Adjust Orientations checked when I adjust rigging to shape and I have the Restore Rigging unchecked when I do the ERC. What am I doing wrong?

Okay so it seems to work when I apply restore rigging. But I thought you weren't supposed to restore rigging when you did an ERC freeze.
I'm confused. When do you and when don't you use Restore figure rigging?
Arrrgh! And now I just discovered that using morphs for the ears in the expression morphs is a really really bad idea.
I'll have to rebuild my expression morphs and use the ear's pose controls to shape the ears and the morphs to shape just the face.
Assuming you have memorised the rigging, which is needed for restore to work (otherwise it goes back to the default, with the bones aligned along their principal axes) you want Restore rigging checked when you are using ERC freeze to link adjustments to the rigging (from Adjust rigging to Shape or from manual tweaking) to the morph that requires it.
When you've got the ears separate I would uncheck "auto follow" in their parameters, too. That way they don't transfer into hairs.
Good idea! Thanks!
