Scene Navigation (Perspective)
Is there a way to navigate around your scene WITHOUT having to keep moving my mouse up to the square box (Perspective View)?
For example, it would be nice if I could rotate within the scene – anywhere – and, perhaps by holding the spacebar (or other key), I could pan left / right (kinda like Photoshop).
Are there settings for anything like this?

When you hover over the symbols in the corner it will show the keyboard shortcuts for things like pan, dolly, zoom, frame, aim etc.
You're the man. Thanks. Will test when I get home.
When I hover over those symbols, it just shows me the Right Mouse Button and Left Mouse Button options. No keyboard options.
You mean like navigating in an FPS? No, DS doesn't do that I've afraid. Someone (probably Casual) did make some alternative navigation tools but I can't recall if they used keyboards or just a Wiimote (Wiimote was defitely one thing that was supported), not can I recall if they work in DS 4.5+.
No, just... manipulating the Perspective View square thing without having to actually click it with the mouse. Clicking within the actual visible scene to rotate (anywhere in the background), etc. There's probably a hotkey for it; I'll check when I get home.
I was replying to dkutzera, sorry. You can use modifiers to navigate by clicking and dragging in the viewport - I can't remember the defaults since I've changed them, but they are available (and can be changed by double-clicking the existing shortcut and clicking the desired mouse key with the desired modifiers held down) in Window>Workspace>Customise.
I see this in the change log for a future version:
