Rendering the floor grid?

edited December 1969 in New Users

Is there a way to change the Render Settings so that the square grid on the floor will show up in the actual renders?? I think (though maybe I'm making this up) I had it set up that way at one point, and somehow figured out how to set it so it wouldn't turn up. Now I'd like my image to include that grid as well, but I can't figure out how to do it.

There is no "floor" unless one puts a plane or loads some type of ground plane to be a floor. One could put an image of a grid on the plane or terrain.

I see, I see, thank you. The reason why I haven't gone ahead and put a floor is because the image is supposed to have an above-surface component as well as an underground component, and the grid is ideal to show where the ground is supposed to be without concealing what's going on underneath. I wonder if inserting a transparent png image or something like that could work though.... (I also tried creating a "floor" and reducing the opacity but it didn't look as good as the gridding does).

Making a grid texture ... and an opposite black/white one to put on the opacity channel will give a grid only being rendered. Transparent areas should be clear as glass.

I will try this, thank you!

Would you be interested in a quick method with the shader mixer?
It's not as difficult as it first appears, honest!
