Use both cpu and gpu for Iray Render?

I know there are other posts on this but I tried them to no avail.

My CPU is ryzen 3900x and GPU is nvidia 2080TI

Changing settings in the Iray Render settings advanced, its either CPU with the box checked or Just GPU with the box unchecked. The LOG file tells me that in both cases its either one or the other that is used for rendering.

Is there a way to harness the power of both these components at the same time which results in faster renders?

  • Using a CPU for iRay rendering is pretty pointless unless your GPU is ancient. just use the 2080ti.

Using the CPU with the 2080ti will slow down your total rendering time with Iray.  With a different render engine, like Optane, you would get different results, but then you would have to spend a lot of time adjusting materials.
