Hide object + children

Something I don't understand in DS and that's the visibility toggle from the scene tree view.
Depending on the scene when I toggle a group or object it will hide all it's children. Sometimes when I hide a node it won't hide the children.

For example I bought the country resort bundle.
When working on my scene I want to hide the complete building but when I toggle the root node from the building, all its children won't hide.
How can I make sure that I can toggle the visibility of something that contains many children, everything will be hidden?

Though I don't know the reason why some do and some don't I do know a way around this. Select your building root node and "Create" a New Group (it should already have "Parent selected Object" ticked) and then click OK. When you hide the Group node it will hide everything in that group. :)

Easy one Pete, some items are parented to create larger groups of items and others were grouped. Parented sets are not actually in a node chain thus each has a separate on off control. Grouping builds a chain of linked nodes so it has a single master node, even the New Group function creates the link to a master node control as you say.

    Thanks.
Is there a visual aid so I know if it will hide the children or is the "click" my visual aid ;)

Once Grouped using the Built in Group Feature it will have a Single Name you supplied on the Scene Tab and a new Group icon instead of the standard item icon the items had.. see below.
