Smooth Preview Motion?

When I preview an animation..say in animate2…I only see a stutter motion…perhaps every 4th frame or so. It's frustrating. Is there a way to see every frame in preview? I've tried lowering the display options from "texture shaded" but even lower res is previewed in a stutter fashion. Is the only option to actually render the image at a small size and lower level of detail to really see the movement?

This is daz studio.

This is really more a function of both your Video Card and the storage in use, mostly RAM in DAZ Studio. The transfer rate of the files and the update rate of the card to screen is the cause. Even on my High end PC I see some stutter until it is burned as a proper animation file format to be viewed with one of the Players like RealPlayer or MoveMaker.

In Preview each frame must be first Posed and then the lighting updated before the screen can refresh the image displayed.

This is an 8 core mac pro 3.1 and I'd think I'd have much better performance that this. The Nividia Geforce 8800 GT graphics card has only 512 MB of vram. Is one option to get a more powerful graphics card?

Yea, its not the Processor in this case it is fully the GPU Graphic card in plan words. I run a nVidia GeForce 690 and I still get preview stutter when the scenes are heavy, as in have lots of content and textures.

DAZ Studio was never designed to be a full blown AniMation studio in the first place. All the clothing that has collisions needs time to calculate to the new pose the figure goes too, and just that alone can cause the pause and stutter, then the GPU has to update that to screen and then the next frame has already loaded and new pose and new lighting and, and keeping it all in step live was something not thought of, I think, when collision was added to the meshes in DS4.5+.
