Victoria 4 3D Model Pro Suite question
I just bought the Victoria 4 3D model suite: http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-3d-model-pro-suite
After I downloaded the entire suite, it seems that not all the producs included with the suite are working properly (or is it my lack of knowledge).
When I add Victoria 4.2 to my scene and select it, the wardrobe is almost empty in the smart content section. When I browse the content library I can find some of the installed products but then I cannot find the materials.
For example this one: http://www.daz3d.com/hot-chili-v4-a4
It is included with a few skirt options however I cannot seem to find the material. I only see the white version with no material.
I also notice when I double click on a piece of clothing, it is often not fitted to the model and I have to manually right click and "fit to".
I am just wondering... Is this because the suite has victoria 4.2 and do I actually also need to buy victoria 4?
I am a bit confused and don't really know how to use these products.
With the V6 I have plenty of stuff in the wardrobe and the smart content feature gives me a lot of material but I am a bit lost with the V4.
edit: I also notice that I seem to have more clothing available in poser format than in Daz Studio formats.
Is this normal?

V4.2 and V4 are the same figure, it is just that V4.2 is an update. Often people talk of V4 instead of 4.2.
Clothing does have to be conformed (fitted to) the figure.
The store page says it has mat poses for the other colour options, You may find those under Poser formats/ pose
Thanks.
I indeed found many of the mats in the pose folder from the poser library.
Is this smart content feature a new feature after V4 because my V6 model has many clothing in the wardrobe in the smart content.
Is there a way that I can organize my library more easy because it seems so unorganized with my V4 stuff :)
I think so. I actually don't use DS, I am a Poser user. Someone who knows DS will doubtless pull in soon and give you more info.
Note that the stuff in the Pose library will not be actual clothing but in many cases will be material settings for clothing in the Figures library or Props in the Props library.
You can drag-and-drop files from the Content Library pane over to the category you want to use in the Smart Content pane, if you have Victoria 4 loaded and selected they should then be marked as Smart Content for Victoria 4.
Cool thanks! That's really useful!
Can I do a similar thing with the material because now the when I go to the surface tab, I see all materials from all clothing.
It would be great if I could only see the material from the clothing selected.
I'm not sure - sometimes it works, soemtimes it doesn't - I think you have to have the clothing set as a compatibility base first, which isn't a simple drag-and-drop operation.
Do you have some info on how to do this because otherwise I still have to browse through my content library and look for the material myself.
Maybe another question...
How can I organize my content library so that I create my own folders.
This way I can create folders like this:
V4
Clothing
Tops
folder with top 1 + material
folder with top 2 + material
Bottoms
folder with bottom 1 + material
This way I have all the cloths + mats nicely together, just as in the wardrobe.
That's what Ctaegories can be used for. I can't run DS at the moment as my main HD is playing up (or dying) so I'm having to run through a Ubuntu live CD.
Richard, I haven't tried fiddling with categories yet, since I'm worried about messing things up.
Can this be done within Daz Studio, or do I go to MY Library, etc. on my computer?
Please have a look at this video on YouTube:

You can organise your stuff easily. There are nice tutorials on adding new directories as well as Metadata (I used to rely on it, but then after an upgrade it all broke and I had to use the normal libraries as deadlines were tense, but I admit it actually helped me a lot, so I didn't get to reviving Metadata at all), if I managed to work them out, you will have no problems either :). Good luck!
You've got more Poser stuff when it comes to V4, because DS can use most of Poser files (except for dynamics and procedural materials) and back when V4 was launched DS wasn't so popular, I think. Anyway, many times, it wasn't needed for a PA to include DS files as Poser ones were enough.
Thanks all for the help.
I have a better understanding on how to organize my stuff :)
I will just take a couple of hours to categorize everything :)
When you have Categorised your items the way that you want them, then use the Content DB Maintenance option from the Content Library drop down menu, and you will get a screen as shown below.
Select 'Export User Data', and the categories that you have created will be saved, so that if anything happens to the database, you can import the User Data again, and nothing will be lost.
