Commissioning a 3D character

Hey guys,

I would consider myself a casual user of DAZ3D. I buy characters on Renderosity and make some simple renders, mostly for myself. I don't publish my stuff anywhere.

I like doing renders of my favorite TV shows, and there's this one character I'd just love to have - sadly I do not have the skill to create a character myself, and nobody is selling it either...

So what I'm asking is whether there are people that take commissions for creating a unique character in DAZ, based on lots of references (that I will provide, of course)?

Mods, if this isn't in the right place, feel free to move it.

Thanks in advance,

Tim

if its a character on a tv show etc chances are somebody has already done a lookalike though they cannot call it such due to copyright, trademark or a real persons identity rights.
you could just say who it is is you wish to imitate and maybe someone can point one out, there is a celebrity lookalike thread too.

The character is Claire Bennet, from "Heroes".

So that would be Hayden Panetierre, as she was some 6 years ago.

This celeb lookalike thread, I think I found it years ago. It didn't have what I was looking for (I just lurked, I didn't ask questions). Can I request commissions there?

Ah yes, Clarice. That was a very promising character - sadly the skin texture is waaaay darker than what is advertised. Way too dark.

If the character works and just the texture doesn't, you could use a different texture such as the base V4, or you could change the colour settings in the surface tab. It might be an SSS texture with a strong colour on one of the velvet or specular dials that you could dial back. Worst case scenario you could even buy a merchant resource pack and make a modified texture in photoshop. It will be much cheaper and quicker than commissioning a custom morph IMO.

Yep, that's the first model I ever used. Looks nothing like in the pictures, and there are no textures included (he's scared of lawsuits).

I'll try to follow the suggestions you made in your previous post.

I also would be interested if some people are doing paid commissions to make figures and rigging for characters, like toons, creatures or others (with references).

    thanks for your time.
