Theo 8 (greyish-brown) default skin and character skins in general that don't resemble promo pics

I purchased Theo 8 a while ago and today for the first time loaded it in a scene... good grief what a horrifying disappointment he loaded with waaaay super-fake looking skin.
Why do PA's create such default skins that do not at all resemble promo pics? I tried my best to make surface adjustments but it kept maintaining the greyish-brown hue so in the end I gave up and simply copied and pasted surfaces from Owen 8 to him in order to give him a beige skin.
If anybody here uses Theo... how do you usually go about "repairing" his default skin? Do you use scripts like Altern8, etc?

Just wondering if anybody here uses Theo8?

An old thread but... As there is no "standardized" lighting and everyone having their monitor settings where ever... I can see how PA:s have adjusted their lighting to correct the change that should have been done to the skin. Sickly grayish/blueish skin is not so uncommon.
There is a shader "DAZ 4.9 SSS Skin Fix Partial Shader" at Hivewire
Note that the copy/paste isn't necessary — the Theo 8 and Owen 8 characters aren't different figures, they're all Genesis 8 under the skin texture. All you need to do is apply the other character's texture from your content pane, just like you would to any other Theo 8 texture variation. The advantages are it's just one click so it's faster, and it also automatically makes any necessary texture changes to extra bits like eyelashes or anatomy geografts, without you having to scrollscrollscroll through the Surfaces pane comparing parameter settings for differences that might not exist.
Thank you @PerttiA @SpottedKitty for your insights... I am still rather flabagasted that the skin would be left so unusable (without customization) and so different from the promo pics. While I understand that screens are different etc... compared to Mousso's characters which are almost fully usable out of the box, Theo was a big disappointment. I will purchase Altern8 when it goes on sale, thanks so much :)
This is a not uncommon issue. Different creators use different lighting when creating textures so when you use their creations you may have very different results. If you find something truly unusable the best option is to just get a refund through Daz.
I know that is unsatisfactory but multiple requests for every product to have one image with standard lighting has gone nowhere.
It is funny, Theo is one of my favorite characters and I have never seen those skin tones. I rendered him tonight and got this:
What are your settings?
@nemesis10 It's really straight out of the box with the character and render environment all untouched... as you can see, the other 2 characters in my screenshot had "normal" looking skin but poor Theo came out very badly... I would have loved to like him too but alas...
The next question is what is your version of Daz Studio. The render I did was straight out of the box and I don't notice that the skin is very different from any Emrys. Here is a render I did in March of last year:
When you check surfaces, what's the name of the diffuse layer texture? You may not have the right materials being applied.
I am using 4.12-64bit and here are the (default) surface parameters. I reloaded Theo8>Iray>Masculine>TheoAllMaps and he's still way too odd to look at :P
