Diplicate Icons in Smart Content

Hi,
I seem to be getting more that one icon for an item in the Smart Content Pane. Does anyone know what causes this and how to remedy the issue?

    Do you mean multiple icons for a single item or duplicate icons for many items? The latter can happen if you install both the DSON Core and Legacy files, where both are available.

    I have multiple icons for single items. I don't have the DSON installed

    Hmm, I've not seen that. Are these items from the store or items you have saved yourself? I do wonder if nested content directories might confuse it, though it seem unlikely. Please go to Edit>Preferences>Content Library and click the Content Directory Manager button, then expand the entries under Current to show all the paths and post a screen shot of that.

    I have 2 Content Libraries, one in user 'Public' which I use for all DS content installed by the Installation Manager and one in user 'Ken' for content from other suppliers (I only have 3 environments here at the moment).

    Well, Users\Public\DAZ Content Library isn't standard while Users\Public Documents\My DAZ 3D Library is - which, if either, is the DAZ Install Manager pointing to, assuming you are using that?

    First, your Poser Format section in DS Content Directory Manager paths don't match the DS ones -- the public path isn't the one you're using.

    Second,, I see that you have the PoserCF's installed -- are you using Poser also? If not, it sounds like you may have your download filters in DIM showing everything, not just the applications you use,, which could explain the duplicates. In DS, go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library,, tick the "Show File Extensions" box. Then name one of the products that's showing duplicate items, with the extensions.

    Hi,

    No. I don't use poser. Having some time this morning, I uninstalled all mt DS stuff, re-installing in the recommended directory and using the filter 'tag::DazStudio4_5' in Installation Manager. still getting double icons in the Skin Builder' pane under Smart Content.

    I see,, it is not actually merged. one is for genesis, and the other is for genesis2female

    you select one icon in smart content, then r-click >show in"content lbirary" (edited )
    these duplicate icons are individual file, for genesis and genesis2.
    but their icon name seems same.

    I may check real file name later,,

    you may not worry and tweak antyhign, they keep compatiblity for genesis and genesis2 individually,
    then when you select genesis, only one of them can be shown in smart content >files
    Materials>feminin>skinbuilder for genesis (or genesis2female)

    it is same about genesis2 :)

    I think threse two sets are same files, (though not checked in editor,)
    but you need to keep both files, if you use them as smart content.(with comaptiblity)

    I didn't realize that there were 2 versions, they still both show up when Genesis Character is selected but I know now I can just use the content Library pane to get the correct one. I have learned along the way so many thanks for your assistance.

    Just noticed that if I 'drill down' at the top of the Smart Content pane I can select Genesis or Genesis2 and get only 1 set of Icons.

    when you select "product " view,, in smart content, they have no compatiblity, just show all items of the product with category
    as same as content library>product pane :)

    but when you choose "file" view in smart content, if the product meta-data have compatiblity, (and the vendor set them correcttly )
    only assets and presets which tagegd with comatiblity of curret selection with category.

    But about many case, we may need to use content library too, as you know well ^^
