Controlling a garment warp

I have a G3 garment I attached to a G8 character and the skirt is moving with the arms - is there a way to weight off the attach for a garment?

Thanks

  • When you AutoFit a garment to work with a differenrt figure the system projects the joint weights from the nearest area of the figure - where there is a wide separation between figure and garment that can produce unexpected results. You can use the Node Weight paint Brush tool (possibly alongside the Geometry Editor tool) to edit the General Weights map (selected in the Tool Settings pane with the brush tool active).

Or!  You can try an easier solution, that may bring good results with less fuss.

In order to fit a G3 garment to a G8 character, or vice versa, it's worth trying this, because it works a lot of the time:

    1. With your character deselected, load your garment into the scene. (First attachment)
    2. With the garment now selected, right-click the little hamburger icon above the Scene tab and go to Edit > Scene Identification (Second attachment)
    3. Under Preferred Base, click the little down arrow on the right, and then go pick out Genesis 3 > Female.  Accept and Accept again. (Third Attachment)
    4. Now right-click your garment and fit your garment to your character and Parent to Target.

    Good luck!

I think this should be changing from Genesis 3 Female to Genesis 8 > Female? The garment will already be set as Genesis 3 > Female.

Right.  Oops.  But you get the idea.
