second Graphic card (Gtx 970)

Hello Guys,

I have bought some months ago the Gforce 2070 super and my old graphic - GTX 970 is still working.

Would it be worth to upgrade my power supply (100€) and adding the GTX 970? or isnt it worth it? and how much time would i save (roughly) in rendering?

All the best

A lot depends on the scene. The 970 has 4Gb of VRAM. so in scenes that fit in 4Gb it would speed renders by something. How much is hard to say. It wouldn't be by all that much maybe by 25% but don't hold me to that.

But on scenes bigger that 4Gb, which likely would be most of them it wouldn't do anything. For 100 euros I don't think I'd do it. I'd sell it if I could but that's me.

I use a 970 to drive three monitors; it is a waste of time adding it to the rendering; I use Blender for rendering now, and it is even less worthwhile adding it now to the rendering, but the 980ti I use for rendering (slower  than my Threadripper in Blender) just does rendering.

Like nicstt, I use my older video card just to drive my display and not render. This keeps my monitor reponsive so I can do other things while my big cards are doing my rendering. It won't speed up your renders, but it does make your computer available for other tasks.
