PLacing items at specific location

Daz Studion on a Mac: I'm trying to put a table on the roof of a building but every time I drag and drop it shows up at the 0,0,0, ground plane. I've tried holding Option key but never see the target. I've tried selecting the roof before dragging, but that doesn't work. To create this set I'll be dragging a lot of props and it will be very tedious to have to move them all by hand from 0,0,0, to the top of this building. Is there a way to load stuff at a specific location?

Are the items Poser format or DAZ Studio format? Are you holding the opt key down while you drag? Which tool is active?

There seems to be two copies of the items in question a .duf file and a .daz file. I hold down the option key and drag. Now when I'm at the ground plane, option-drag does bring up the target symbol when dragging the .duf file version. Does this target system only work when on the ground plane. I can't use it when I'm a hundred feet above the ground plane on the top of a building model? What I need is a way to make new items load into the camera view that I'm looking through.

Target load only loads to ground plane. Once the item is loaded use the Parameters Tab Z translate to raise it to the height you need.

That's what I've been doing…was looking for a better way.

If you are going to be looking at the rooftop anyway, perhaps you can lower the structure so that the rooftop is at ground level?

Here is all I have to offer, if you use the Target drag load the items default load level is what it loads to, a figure or prop on the 0 Z will load to 0 Z so if your items default Z was saved at the level you needed say 200 Z it would Drag Load at 200 Z. This could be done in a Modeling application like Blender or Hexagon, or by setting the item to the needed Z height in DAZ Studio and then Saving as a Prop/Figure again after the item was set as needed. Not sure this will help any but its the only thing I can think of that might help.
