questions about Organizing the Library.

Okay, I got a bunch of V4 stuff during the sales. I want to fit it to Genesis and Genesis 2. I was thinking about just sorting it all into folders for tops, pants, skirts, dresses, shoes and other. The thought was to get it all saved where I can mix and match outfits and then texture them. But I am wondering if opening the large folders with too many items would crash Daz Studio. I notice sometimes it will loose everything in a folder when I am working on converting an outfit and I have to click on other folders and go back and forth to get it to pull up so I could select the next piece. If a big folder would take forever to open, its not worth the time it would save me to be able to browse it all at once. Is there a limit to what you want in each folder?

I'm not aware of an upper limit, and I have one folder that has 2430 content thumbnails in it that works just fine. It takes less than 2 seconds to open, so it's not instantaneous, but nor is it a problem in any way for me.
There is a bug whereby sometimes your content thumbnails aren't displayed and it looks like your folder is empty. The workaround is either (I forget which) wave your mouse over where the thumbnails would be, or click in that area, and it will then correctly refresh and display them. Never assume what looks like an empty folder is actually empty until you have done that.
The library folder that I use, My DAZ 3D Library is currently around 50 GB, so size is not a problem.
I would imagine that all items for V4 are in Poser Format, and would need to be inside the Runtime folder, how were you thinking of doing this?
You can use Categories inside DAZ Studio, which is a great way of classifying things in the way that you want. You can export User Data from the Content Library pane, so it will never be lost.
Oh, did you mean a large runtime folder on your disk, or a large Content Library pane folder? My above comment assumed Content Library pane. I have most of my content divided into multiple runtimes, so I don't know how a single large runtime affects things.

This! Thanks, that's perfect. I can find it all without actually making anything much bigger to store. I looked this up and its easy to do and I can sort it like want and go look at just what I want to see. I'll have outfits ready to go when I want, and be able to pick stuff up to mix and match when I feel like tinkering.
