Lightsettings need help

hi.. friends,

once again i have to ask a question.... the last 2 days i did several tryouts with Lightsettings and rendering settings.

i looked in youtube and in internet for good light and rendering tutorials but didnt find any.. so i tried to find out myself how everything works..

what i know so far is that light setting is the key for good quality pictures.

when i do a rendring with no light settings it looks not bad... when i add some lights the figure gets pixeled like a checkered pattern :-(
when i put my figures into the fiery light setting example it looks fantastic and even better with very high rendering settings...

what i did now is set a uberenvironment in my selfbuildet scene with colour white 100% intensity
a distance light from right side in orange 50% intensity
a distance light from the back of the charakter 40 % violett
a distance light from the left side 60% white left

what are spotlights, pointlights, linear pointlights good for?
in some presets i have seen a mixture of for example just distance light ... some mixed with pontlights and spotlights??? but i didnt find out in which situation its good to use..

welll.... what can i do to get rid of the checkered pattern.. is it in the light or rendering settings that this looking appears?
its for me kind of luck if a picture turns out good looking.. my charakter has base skin i think low quality... sss is high quality? thats another question.

Maybe anybody can answer me? or give me at least a good link to a light and rendering tutorial.

greets Warpmaster

The checkerd problem often happen, when we add uverenvironment light in the scene at first time.:)
I do not and can not tell all about uverenvrionment light,
but to simply say, you need two things as start point.

    1. apply quality preset for Uverenvironment lght
    Select UElight in the scene.
    then go to Content Library.

    Light Presets>omnfreaker>UberEnvironment2
you shoud find, Set Quality dsas.
the higher number the more quality (so that take long time to render)

you can check which parameter are changed, with keep select UElight,
    by Parameter tab >Light>advanced section.

it change shading rate, and max Erroer of UElight calcuration.

    2. change render setting. (most important)

You know already, in render setting tab >advanced
there are many setting property. but usually most important setting,
is Shading Rate. when you use UE, you must need lower shading rate.
I suggest at least lower than 0.5

(actually you can get more high quality with 0.1 or 0.05 (0.02) too
there is clear difference about UElight)

Then there are many light tutoriall, in forum already,
and Actually I understand light setting and skin (material) shader setting is most difficult part
    for me too.
(But modeling, UV , make good texture ,, animating, everything seems difficult though ^^;)

Then I suggest two tutoriall for lightings,,

    1. you tube video,,
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrSY0zenyrs

it show you how easy use uverenvironment light with specular light.
it is about daz studio3. but all he said in the video,
can do in daz studio4.6. there is no difference.

2 vendor tutoriall. it is not cover about UElight,
    http://www.daz3d.com/tutorials/the-basics-of-lighting

but it tell me most of light meaning. step by step, with easy readable words for my simple head.
and I often return this tutorialls.

in the documents, you make original environment (fill) light (something light ball):)
    from daz default light sets.
I really like it. and surprised, when I first used it.
then you may understand, why when, we need to add Rim or Fill or Key light.

3 I really recommend you get AdvancedAmbientLight of Age of Armor.
it really save time to render.. without you have plan to use HDR IBL
    AoA light work good.

Of couse I am not vereran user, or can not aritstic render, then may many pro or semi-pro artist
may help you about each detail,,

    but at least, these tutoriall help me lot,, to render scene,, more better before,, ^^;
