A bit confused....

edited December 1969 in New Users

So i recently got a free morph from Sharecg.com or whatever it is and when i try to put the zip folder in the instal manager file it wont show up for me to install it via the install manager and then when i try to manually install it and try to load the morphs onto the models it says it cannot locate them even after putting all of the files in the directory it puts it in when you choose "locate" which im assuming is the correct directory. If anyone can offer insight that would be great!

First of all, the DAZ Install Manager (DIM) ONLY installs content bought in the DAZ 3D store, it does not install anything else for you.

If you have installed your previous content bought at the DAZ sore (Genesis etc) then you should have a folder called 'My DAZ 3D Library', that is where you need to install everything into.

Inside your ZIP file, there is usually a folder with some name or another, look inside that folder to see what structure the folders are in.

If you go here C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library you should be able to look inside the My DAZ 3D Library folder, and you will see sub-folders for various things, the important one for morphs is usually 'data'. Assuming that you are using a PC, and not a Mac, simply merge the folders from the ZIP file into the equivalent folders in My DAZ 3D library.

If you are still not sure of what to do, post a link to the freebie and I will have a look at it for you.

hmmm ok, and just a quick question because other freebies i've installed and have successfully gotten to work i have manually opened each file from inside runtime like textures each on the character or whatever do i need to do that or just simply copy the runtime from the one i want installed into the runtime in the library?
    thanks for your help.

It depends on how well the freebie is packaged, and what it contains.

If it is done correctly, and it is in Poser format with a CR2 (Character) or PP2 (Prop) or PZ2 (Pose) file, then it should load the textures for you. If these freebies contain procedural textures for Poser items, they will not work inside DAZ Studio, and you will need to apply your own textures.

DAZ Studio can generally read Poser format files, and load them, but textures may need to be tweaked to get them to look correct inside DS. But in general, yes, merge the runtime folders together, and you will see the content inside the Content Library in DAZ Studio under Poser Formats. They almost certainly will NOT have Metadata, so they wont appear in Smart Content.

Hmmm ok well that makes things easier then i'll have to try just merging the runtimes before i waste my time actually extracting the folders for each category manually for each time xD dang i feel like a retard now haha.

If you run into any more problems, you know where we are :)

It takes a little time to get used to.
