Trying to understand where animation information is stored

I have entered a sequence of face poses into the timeline using the Puppeteer.  Now I would like to delete those keyframes and change them in some way.  I have Keymate set to display TRSV keys and I have deleted all key frames that are visible (other than the zero frame).  However, when I play the animation, all of the face poses are still there as if the keys still exist.  I will attach images of my interface.

The expression sliders I used to create the poses are set in the Posing tab.  I can see them moving around and changing position with each frame, so they are keyed in somewhere.  Where, how, can I access this information to change it?

I've been able to fix the problem by clearing the selected pose of the head node, so maybe that's good enough.  Still, wondering why it seems like the keys were invisible to me.

I rarely use animation (beside animated drapes for dforce or dynamic clothes), but at a guess they may be properties at the figure level and not just head?
