Texture Compression IRAY Setting Questions [SOLVED]

DafaDafa Posts: 97

I want someone to confirm this or help me understand the medium and high threshold for Texture Compression. If I were to set the Medium Threshold to 728 and High Threshold to 1028, what would happen? Does anything textures lower than 1028 get highly compressed while anything lower than 728 gets mildly compression? Can I make the Medium Threshold higher than the High Threshold?

No, anything below 768 is uncompressed, between 768 and 1024 is mildly compressed, and over 1024 if highly compressed.

    Ok thanks.

  • What does compressed actually mean? Majority of my scenes are a "wide-shot" with two or more figures. All my models are Genesis 8. And all the scenes are environments from the Daz3d store (good quality). Will the thresholds affect "wide-shot" renders? I seen on other discussions that the you only see a difference on "close-up" scenes. I've done different test and I noticed that when I raised the thresholds say like 8000 x 9000 my renders time were longer.
