Porcupine fur problem

I'm not able to get the Crested Porcupine https://www.daz3d.com/rodents-by-am-crested-porcupine to generate fur from the LAMH editor. I've had this figure for years & must never have check out it's fur.

Whether in the Editor & use the Fiberhair, or just the panel & click to OBJ, it crashes DS almost instantly. I've re d/led & reinstalled but didn't help. Tried starting with the base figure & adding the preset & have the same problem.

Perhaps this is a tech support question but thought I'd check here first.  I've dozens of LAMH figures & this is the first time I've come across this sort of problem & not sure where to look.

Thanks,

I just tested the Iray Porcupine figure with the Catalyzer for LAMH add-on and it renders for me.

    1. Load the Iray Porcupine figure
    2. Open the LAMH2Iray Catalyzer tab, click on the Render button.

That's the Catalyzer version. He is not using Catalyzer. He is using the regular LAMH.
I don't own the porcupine, so I can't test it, sorry.

Unfortunately, I'm not well versed on how to use the LAMH editor from the Create menu.  The only times I've used it is to export the hair so I could render an animal in Iray.  With the advent of the Catalyzer for LAMH I am lost when I bring up the editor and as I've never used it for hair editing.

I did just load the LAMH Porcupine figure, added a light and background and it rendered in 3Delight with no problem.  If the OP wanted to post steps, I could try and replicate the issue on my system.

    Thanks anyway b.

Just so you know, all of this is leading up to combining furred, animated critters into USC scenery.

Nothing out of the ordinary.  I've tried the 3Dlight version which uses the LAMH preset, as well as adding the preset to the base figure.  I've checked an there are no dupe shavegroups in the editor (which happens for some reason), but as soon as I try to Export, it crashes DS.

FYI, I've probably translated several dozen LAMH critters now, & Porkys the first I've had any problem with.

Is there a commercial thread for the porcupine? Maybe you can contact AM over there and get some help.

I raised a support ticket for this issue (along with an issue with the Catalyzer version of the Porcupine) back in February.

DAZ customer support said that it was outwith their support boundaries as it is an issue with a brokered plug-in and advised that I contact AM directly.

When I contacted Alessandro, the Catalyzer version was fixed right away, but there has been no fix for the LAMH version crash.

Your best bet would be to contact Alessandro directly.  You will find a contact email address on his blog page at: https://www.alessandromastronardi.com/blog/

That's everyone, and particularly galien for yor report.  I've been in touch with AM on a couple occasions in the past & quite helpful, so will follow up on that.

For the record, AM confirmed the issue with the pre-set.  No promises as to when it'll be addressed, but at least we know the best person's on the case.
