A lot of my recent content does not appear in the smart content tab. I noticed that there was a recent update to install manager. Could this be responsible? If so, how do I fix it?
Did you install using the DAZ Install Manager (DIM).
If so, in the Installed tab, there is a check mark with each item that has Smart Content enabled, do these items have that?
What items have you recently bought that don't show up? If you installed the items yourself, you will need to go to the drop-down menu in the Content Library pane, select Content DB Maintenance, and use the 'Re-Import Metadata' option.
Depending on what you bought, the items may not have smart content and will only show up in the content library.
If your purchases are older items (like some of the stuff on sale for V4 & M4 or some of the animals) this may be your problem.
This is all I know on the subject, since I'm fairly new to this myself.
I'd like to insert a related question:
I have read instructions for creating your own meta data, so that ANYTHING can show up in Smart Content. I have also been told that eventually, hopefully, older items will be reworked by the experts at DAZ.
MY question: if I add meta data on my own, could it cause a conflict if the same item is officially updated later on?
You can add Metadata and the Update would still work as it should have a Signed Metadata file (ID).
As For the OP, only content with a Check mark as shown here will be Smart content all other content is Old format and can only be found as noted from the Content Library Tab.
The items I mean all have the smart checkmark you mention as all my figures are genesis 2. They are in my content library but scrolling through all the folders every time is getting a bit annoying.
In DAZ Studio do this and lets see if your Smart Content starts working again...
Step one, Open DAZ Studio, and Open the Content Library Tab, in the upper Right of all tabs is a mini Options menu that looks like four lines with a small arrow on it. Open that Mini Options Menu.
From that Menu Select the Content DB Maintenance setting. (See Image #1 Below)
Step two, From the Menu select just Reset Database and do Accept. (See Image #2 Below)
Step three, once that runs, it should be very fast so do not worry, open this menu a second time.
Select the option of Re-Import Metadata... and do Accept. (See Image #3 Below)
This should take some time to run, the length of time will depend on how much content you have.
You must let this run fully and not do anything else as this file is being written. Just wait till it finishes.
Step four, CLOSE DAZ Studio. Now for a real full test I strongly suggest you now do a Full Cold Re-Boot. A Full Cold Re-Boot is shutting down your PC properly OFF and letting it set fully OFF for 60 Seconds. This clears all chance of auto run software that may have a softboot RAM loader, softboot is when you just do a Re-Start.
Step five, Turn PC back on and let fully Boot, Open DAZ Studio. Do you Now have Smart Content?

Does DIM show PostgreSQL CMS installed?
My smart content window is now completely empty. I have no idea why.
You CMS probably stopped
I'm about as computer literate as a ham sandwich. Could you explain what that means please?
Are you on a PC or a Mac
Did you install PostgreSQL CMS in DIM?
PC laptop.
I installed everything through the installer manager.

I used the installer manager, and I don't know how to check what you mean.
