Massive distortion after applying mocaps

I've been trying to apply the Carnegie Mellon mocaps to some of my figures and I'm getting massive distortions on the chest (the elf ear morph I have also expands a lot, as you can see in the picture).  I've been able to confirm that it has to do with some chest morphs I've applied to the figures.  (Figures without these morphs don't have this "explosion").  I've tried a lot of things, like turning off AutoFollow for the chest morphs and fiddling with the BVH import options, but nothing works.  Locking the chest morphs does do something, the chest looks more normal though not quite the way it should, but then the sides of the figure get distorted instead.  Any ideas on what I could do to fix this?
