IBL Master for Daz Studio

Is this a product anyone here recommends?

It looks pretty cool and I always struggle finding the sun in my HDRIs, that alone seems like a reason to buy this.

Also having the boost/ghost lights would be helpful in lighting the scene.

This is an old product though... The YouTube video is from 2017!

Does it still work with all of the Daz updates?

Is it compatible with other Daz lights and 3rd party lights?

Does anyone use this all the time still?

It seems like a product I would use every time I incorporate an HDRI into my scene (which is not every scene).

I render in IRAY exclusively, what are your suggestions on this product?

The general release thread may help.

(Three years isn't THAT old! It's actually a few months "younger" than Victoria and Michael 8 themselves!)

I can't answer the other questions, I'm afraid. I stopped using it mostly because my workflow changed and I didn't need it as much any more.

Hmm, that is very good point, Michael 8 is still a great figure, especially the HD version,  ...and IBL Master was made to work in Daz 4.12, I am gonna try it out.

When I first went to search for IBL Master, the store page said the page was not available anymore... then I persisted and then it showed up in the store.

This is what made me wonder if maybe it was incompatible or discontinued.

I just used it a couple days ago to rotate the HDRI here so the sunlight was directly behind the farmhouse. That is what I bought it for when it first came out, and I still use it when I can't quickly find the sun in an HDRI.

Edited to say I'm using the latest version of Daz Studio, and it still works fine. I haven't used the boost lights in a while, but I would be surprised if they stopped working.

It works well for me - for what it was designed to do, so yes, it is "mechanically" robust. I like it and use it many places.

If you alternate between 3DL and IRAY in the same scene, the materials in the scene need to be changed/converted to match the render engine, so it's not a free-lunch in that regard (nor does it claim to be).

For doing scenes that take advantage of the desired strengths of both rendering environments (e.g. using 3DL/LR9K for lines to overlay on a photo-realistic Iray scene, with 3DL toony shaded figures), there is no better tool to keep the scene layers coordinated with lighting, shadow-catchers, masks, and pixel accuracy for compositing/masking.

So it depends on your workflow, but it works very well as intended.

With accurate expectations you won't be disappointed.
