Hi!I'm a very new user of daz3d (just a couple of days) I i still don't understand why when i render an image i either got an underexposed or overexposed image to say it with a photograpy term.
Another problem i found some minutes ago is that opening a scene project i completely lost any light information, even if they are there and there they where when i last saved and i can't understand why

thanks

First of all, the viewport display, and the image that is produced from a render are two completely different things.

The viewport will only give you a basic idea of what a render will look like, and if there are a lot of lights involved (more than 8) it will not display them all anyway. There is a Spot Render tool (Alt+Shift+C) which will render a small area of the finished image to give you a better idea of what the finished image will look like. Lighting is one of the most difficult things to master in any 3D program.

Any lights or cameras etc, that you have saved in a Scene (File > Save As > Scene), should still be there when you reaload the Scene, so I don't understand what has happened there. Did you perhaps save as a Scene Subset, which only saves the items you have selected to save?

Looks as if you are using the cartoon renderer.
Can you show a screen shot of your advanced render settings

I'm not quite sure what you mean by you were not in advanced mode.

It could be your Gamma setting, I usually render with Gamma off but I think Gamma should be set to 2.20 if its turned on.

Advanced rendering boxes are not checked that means they are not activated right?by the way I had no problem yesterday in rendering just a little of that dalek models with no scene and with just the general settings

OK I think I know what you mean by 'advanced rendering boxes are not checked', if you mean the box by Progressive render is not checked that does not control the render settings thats something else, so yes the render settings you showed are activated.

Try these script files, the set includes 6 render settings and many render sizes. I use this all the time as a base.

The light are all there you can see them have you tried rendering and seeing what happens.

By the way this is the result i obtain rendering with the high settings of that render presets, still too bright considering the scene....

    Which lights are you loading.
DS is limited by the number of lights it can show the results of the max is 8 I think.
This is an older model so it may mean that these are Poser lights which are that good in DS.
I do have the model so I'll see if I can find time this evening to load it up and have a look.

If using Poser light sets then you need to set up the point lights if they have them. Poser point lights don't carry over to DS.

Had a chance to load and look at this.
The DS lights are bright, I think the idea is a well lit corridor, the results I'm getting though are not as bright and over lit as the OP's

That sounds like your content folders are not set up correctly:
    1) What is the full path to one of the files that can't be found?
    2) In DS, Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, expand the "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats", and post a screenshot
