Just looking for any guidance regarding how to go about doing something similar a including software recommendations to create line channel layers (hexagon?) and small point of light animation.
Complete Daz3D novice and any help is sincerely appreciated.
Kindest regards,
Luis

One way to get lines all over the body would be to make a copy of all the textures to be affected, open them up in an image editor which works with layers. Then in D/S using the Surface tab, apply the new textures to the body sections and save out a "mat file".
For the traveling light, possibly by creating a sphere in D/S and making it real shiny and bright ... then on the timeline make the animation.
I'm going to assume something like that is better done in a video app like Adobe Premier using overlays (or something).
Hi Patience55 and Vaskania and thank you both for your response.
Patience55: Do you know of a video tutorial or article which could help with understanding key actions including 1) making copies of textures 2) opening them up in image editor (I'm currently using Adobe Photoshop CC and have Daz3D Photoshop bridge successfully installed). Once changes in image editor are complete, do we save as .obj file and then import into scene etc?
Also, I.m considering purchasing Carrara 8.5 and curious if you both think it would achieve desired results (with training of course)?
Kindest regards,
Luis
? ... well, to make copies of a picture, I generally 'right-click' on its icon in the folder and do the copy/paste actions.
Then right-click on one of the copies and open it in my image editor [Corel's PSP] ... in this program one can also open the rest of the images and each can be on its own tab, or copy/pasted to one tab - and then said file can be saved as a .psd file. Great for saving projects that take awhile to put together. Each item [i.e. face, body, limbs, etc] would need to be saved out in an image format which is all what most image editors save things as. .jpeg or .png for example. Make a few and test them in D/S. At the moment I forget which, but one of these forms translates poorly in D/S going all pixie around stamped in pictures on another [i.e. medals on a shirt] - has something to do with the compression from the image editor I suspect. .png or .tiff probably the best choices.
Surface Tab in D/S ... with M4 [or whichever] selected, select one surface group at a time [numbered for easy reference] and browse to and apply the new texture.
Then File > Save as > materials preset ... to some folder under My Library [not in the Runtime].
Carrara I've heard referred to as the Swiss Army Knife of programs. Does a little of everything. There are tutorials available for purchase however there is also a dedicated thread for Carrara users ... lots of links for more information in there too ;-)
The decision whether or not to buy any program or product(s) is totally your call. Only you know what your goal is. And how each of us tries to attain that goal varies person to person. It's a lovely program and when I bought the previous edition, it came with lots of goodies too.
I thought of that [although with a different program] but the figure is also rotated ... so switched thinking to putting it to the skin textures.
