Hey all, I'm a total noob with all this 3d stuff. I'm just messing around with it for the fun of it. Anyway, I recently created a prop from primitives, but I can't save it as a prop. It only let's me save it as a scene. It saves as a prop and even shows up in my prop content window, but will not load. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, please help.

Where did you save it to, and what happens when you try to load it?

With Daz Studio. The 'Content Library' can be a complete confusing mess. I've dabbled with 'Exporting' an item completely outside of the daz directory, so I can find it again when I go to import it.

Thing to remember is that scaling bit. If your making stuff in Studio for use in studio, just leave the export and import scaling at 100%

Also I like to do the simple thing, and "Save -> Scene Subset", the stuff sometimes appears in the smart content tab, under undefined or something like that at the bottom of the categories.

I make sure all the stuff is neatly nested (Parents) under a single root item, and when I save it, I make sure just the intended item tree is selected in the save box/window.

    Hope that helps.

thanks, the single root item might be the problem. I intended the prop to have a sub root that could be posed in different ways, and so I made it its own root inside the main root tree. I'll try it all as one root and see if that fixes it.

the servers reset on me last night, in the middle of making an order, and I didn't get a chance to add two pennies to this. No foul done, it just took a bit of time for the servers to sort out. lol.

I grouped the stone-cube-stack with a root node, to make it easy to move the entire stack around in the scene, after loading them. I made the mistake of leaving them all separate entities, and found moving all six in the stack separately a pain. when setting up the "Casting Reflections" set.

There is a few threads around that cover importing/exporting and saving scene-subsets (in the daz forum), I just don't remember where they are. Mostly it's a mater of finding the menu items for them, and paying attention to the check-boxes and scaling.
