How to Make cat ears and Tail for Genesis 2?(Geografting?)

Hello!

I have been messing around with Sculptris trying to figure out how to make my own morphs.

I want to make all my Original Characters one day! :D

For now I am just learning the Basics. ^-^;;

So I found this really cool Geografted cat ears and tail for genesis
http://www.daz3d.com/catgirl-genesis

Sadly this will not work for my Genesis 2 Characters. Also I would really rather make my own since my character has a unique style.
I think I could probably morph her head to get the ears in Sculptris, but the tail.... eh i have no clue how to make it!

Thanks for any advice in advance =3

Hi,, would not you get blondie rigging tutoriall?
    http://www.daz3d.com/tutorials/advanced-rigging-in-daz-studio-4-pro

though you can wait good sale week for tutorialls,, (daz may plan )

I remember there were topic about geo grafting, but I could not find at current.
then the tutoriall is really good for your purpose I believe,,

I did not make many geo grafts items, before just made simple horns etc,,(not have ghost bone,,)
but this week I planned to make enemy creature for my actor,,

then I had cr2 creature,, I plan to use the tentacle, to genesis creature snake hands
attached to torso, as geo grafting.

I have bought the brondie tutoriall before,, then tried with it.
it really told me clear, what I need for geo grafting. I believe you can achieve your plan, with the tutoriall.
(and it may tell you many important things for your hope too)

(when I start daz studio,, I hope same thing,, make all original actor by myself,,
keep learning still,, modeling, rigging etc,, I gradually make some prop or simple rig clothing etc,,

I feel it seems good,, but it is far from which I really hoped,, then sometimes I forget my goal,,
but I really be encoulaged by your hope ^^,, I need to keep learning more.)

    you must check the topic
    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24555/

    before bought brondie tutoriall..

ben98120000 thank you much,, I have missed the topic,,

there are important points which we must need to know.
and clear difference how to assign the graft mesh between tutoriall and the hiro way,,

(I am now comparing with brondie way,, actually at current version daz studio ds 4.6
the Hiro way work better,, )

Thank you. I tried this tutorial with a simple cat ear I made in Sculptris, but it would never attach, just stuck at the feet of my character on the ground and left a whole in her head =/

    there should be some missing step.^^;

Can you show your sculpted cat ear pic , and how you set loop (which need to attach as geografting)
for genesis2 ? and your ear have same loop as same as genesis mesh?

you said , your characer,, that is morphed genesis2female , I think.
did you transfer rigs (and weight) from genesis2 to the ear,, by transfer utility?

If you show more clear step which you tried, it make other user easy to find where is problem
and can solve one by one,,

What do you mean by "loop"?

I must be missing something Dx

For Geo Graph items the method is you copy a section of the Figure base mesh, the outer edges of the cut is the Loop that needs to NOT change at all, so once joined back , grafted, that loop matches the figure mesh exactly. You can then Rig your Cut mesh to use the same figure rigging so it does Graph into place properly.
Once that is done properly all the Mesh not in the Loop of the Geo Graph you are making can be added to, as in more mesh added to the Geo Graph item to create the Ear you need. This loop is the part that must never change and must match the figure mesh exactly for it to graph back to the figures mesh. The very outer sections cut from the Base figure mesh all the way around the edge is the loop.

Yes,, as jadarlail said,, all step are clearly mentioned,
the linked page. ( I suggest, you try to make as same as HiroProtagonist show us.)

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24555/

there seems some difference ,between brondie tutorial and HiroProtagonist way,

so that you may better carefully check what talked about in the topic,,

about both case, you need to use orignal genesis2female mesh for the loop joint area.
I usually duplicate mesh in blender, then extrude or joint .

Ehh i feel dumb, but I just do not understand! Yes the mesh must match, but how to i get a matching mesh on the base of my cat ears/tail? I can create a body part in Sculprtis, but what I don't understand is how to get that matching Mesh outline on the base of my new figure so I can attach it when its done?

You CUT a piece of the Genesis Figure mesh. you then build the Geo-Graft on that cut piece of mesh.

For you you would CUT a section of the Base Genesis or Genesis2 figure then use the modeler to merge the points from your EARmesh to the mesh from the cut section, remove all unneeded points and hidden mesh. Make sure the cut section shape does not change (bend or distort) and that you have a clean edge around the outer edge of the cut section. Then you are ready to set that up as a Geo-Graft.

In a real modeling program, like Blender, you could use a 'bridge' function to connect the Genesis extracted vert loop to the starting vert loop of your mesh. Does Sculptis have such a function?

Hmm I am not sure if i can do this in Sculptris then. I am not sure there is a "cut" tool or a way to get a part of the figures mesh. Well boo! I really like Sculptris, but its not very feature heavy -.-

You could use the DAZ Studio GE/PGE (depends on your version of DS) tool to cut the piece of mesh and then export it as a Object File.

You mean the geometry editor tool? Yes I have that tool. Don't see a cut option though =o
