Need some assistance with InstaEdit

I had some luck breaking apart geometry objects in Ultrascenery.

Ultrascenery has these "instance files" and if you right click on them Instaedit gives you the option to break apart these instance files.

Ultrascenery has solid boxes in front of some groupings and then it has some grayed out boxes (cubes) marked "instances".

Now I am working with a different product "Tropical Lagoon" and there is no grayed out boxes just the solid ones. So Instaedit won't work.

How do I create grayed out instance files from the groupings with solid boxes?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

There are no grayed out boxes (cubes) in the image I sent.

I think there are no instances used, so there is nothing to be broken apart!

I loaded the set and used the Instances to Objects script. It did not find any instances giving me the following error message: No instances found in the scene

I was able to use the geometry editor to select faces, and hide them.

The Sambucus Sprigs 1 you used in your screen shot has 481066 face groups in the geometry editor!

Thanks for your comment Markusmatern, and your time testing out my problem. Yes, I did the same, used geometry editor to hide them, this is a problem with some models and should be addressed.

Even though each object may be unique it should still be considered an instance if it is part of a group of similar items.

No. Here 'instance' does not mean another full load of the same object. Instances, when of figures, all have the same pose and textures as the original figure/prop it was made from.

If you want 'instances' - going by your image - you could ungroup the mass, then delete all the unwanted items except the one you want multiple copies of. Then under Create, make as many instances as desired for the scene.
