AFAIK one can add primitive lights to any mode. {create a primitive, add emissions to it, etc.}

Not directly. You need to select Dome and Scene, then remove the Environment Map (set it to None), which will force Sun-Sky as the environment. Kind of counter-intuitive, but it will now let you add scene lights.

Yes, of course, emissives can be used any time as they aren't seen as "lights" in Studio. I was thinking about spotlights and point lights, and the like, and their use.
