multiple characters

Hi
I'm having a problem getting multiple characters onto the stage. It works fine if they are all the same sex, but not if I am trying to do it with a male and female figure.
I create my characters and save them, so they appear in the smart content. I place the female on the stage. As soon as I do this, all the male characters disappear from my smart content and I can only use the female. How do I get both genders working together?
Thank you for your help!

Poser or DAZ Studio? Which figures - Genesis? How are you saving them?

DAZ Studio. Genesis and I'm posing them, then saving as a character preset so that they appear in the smart control menu.

And you make sure you don't have an existing figure selected when you apply the Character preset?

I only have the female figure on the stage. That is highlighted in the scene tab, but otherwise nothing is selected.

If by highlighted you mean highlighted in orange like on pic 1, than its selected, so smart content shows just content that is compatible with that figure. Click somewhere on empty space in scene tab to deselect it (pic 2) and smart content will show you everything since now you dont have anything selected.

This is probably the issue. It took me a while to learn that the menus in Daz Studio change depending on what is selected…or if anything is selected. It can be quite confusing.
